Zuwena Hussein

From Burundi, at Kakuma refugee camp since 2009

We are a family of 12 members. I am the fifth child in my family, My 4 older siblings have gotten married and others have married so I am like the eldest at home now. My parents are not working because my father is very old, this is making me like the one who has to hel at home with financial issues where I can.

I started working as a 3D Modeler in 2023. I like that 3D makes a person very creative and that it is a continuous process where a person gets to learn new things everyday.

"I had to leave everything behind. But now, with each 3D model I make, I feel like I’m building a piece of myself again. It helps me dream, even when things are hard."

3D Modelling has really increased my hope for a brighter future because when I see myself now and some years back there is a big difference. Like I am now able to generate my own income help my family and buy myself things i want and that was one of my big dream to be able to take care of my family. So I say to myself that if it has only been three years in this field and I am able to do all this, it gives me hope that in some years to come I will be somewhere better where I want to be.

Future goals

My goal is to become one of the best in the 3D field and secure a good job in a big company.
